Las Angeles Chargers: Through The Eyes of a Chiefs Fan

The Chargers have always been a challenger to the Chiefs, but have never really scared me. Even though their roster is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, I know they’ll choke down the stretch. Now that Philip Rivers is gone, I have even less fear of the Chargers. I believe Tyrod Taylor isn’t going to lose you a game, but he sure as hell isn’t going to win you a close game with his arm. I’d be remiss to not give a shoutout to one of my all-time favorite players to watch, Junior Seau. Although his ending was tragic and heartbreaking, his play on the field was incredibly special and a pleasure for all football fans to watch.

Quarterback: Tyrod Taylor

Living in Blacksburg, VA (VT alum) has given me more than enough insight on who Tyrod Taylor is as a QB. With a completion percentage just above 50% (53.6%) and a career QBR of 80%, he’s more than capable of winning games. Watching Tyrod Taylor play is like watching Alex Smith, except Alex’s completion % is always in the ’70s. I’ve seen him play many times in college and a couple times live in the NFL. Every time I see him play, I think he deserves to be a starter in the NFL. With the weapons, he now has with Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Hunter Henry, he’ll be better than average this coming season.

Reason For Optimism…

As a Chargers fan, I’d be pumped to know that my QB is not going to throw ints during the game. Tyrod Taylor is exceptionally careful with the ball (hence, Alex Smith Comparisons). Taylor is going to give you a better chance to win than Philip Rivers did in the past couple of years due to his great Turnover margin. The Chargers are going to draft a QB at some point this draft (Justin Herbert), so Tyrod will be given his chance for 1 season to impress before the new draft pick is given the reigns. My point is, either way, the Chargers will be better at QB than they were last year.

State of the Offense

As an overall offense, the Chargers always seem to be really good at the skill positions and not great on the offensive line. The Chargers must draft a QB or an Offensive lineman in the draft if they want to be better. The additions of Pouncey and Bulaga are good, but both of those players are 10 and 11 years into their careers. As a Chiefs fan, I have no worry that Tyrod Taylor is going to be able to score enough points to keep up with Saint Patrick and company.

Offensive Line

Bringing in established veterans, such as Mike Pouncey from Miami and Bryan Bulaga from Green Bay are solid moves. However, theyre old and have a history with big time injuries. I think they’re weakest at the Guard Position and that’s bad news against the Chris Jones with the Chiefs and Jurrell Casey with the Broncos. The Raiders are incredibly young, but they’ll be able to push those interior guys around too. Trai Turner is decent, but he wears down too fast against top talent.

Running Backs

I think the RB’s are the strong suit of the Charger’s offense led by the swiss army knife known as, Austin Ekeler. He’s incredibly dynamic and adds an element to their offense that makes them very difficult to stop. Justin Jackson impressed me a lot in the past couple years with 5.5 yards per carry. He’s big, fast, and has absolutely no fear. I believe his maturation is the reason the Chargers felt ok with letting Melvin Gordon walk.

Wide Receivers

I have to be honest, Keenan Allen is an incredible route runner and almost impossible to cover 1-on-1. However, I can’t stand him anytime he opens his mouth. He always talks a ton of shit about my Chiefs and loses more than he wins. Mike Williams is always a threat, especially against my Chiefs. He’s just too big and strong to cover man-to-man in jump ball situations. That’s about it though as far as receivers I’m scared of on the Chargers. Charvarius Ward will keep Allen to modest gains and I just don’t see any way in which the Chargers can score 30 points a game.

State of the Defense

The Chargers defense just got better with the addition of Kenneth Murray from Oklahoma. They have one of the best young pass-rushers in the NFL with Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram provides a more than a serviceable running mate. However, the Chargers are weak at defensive back, even with Chris Harris Jr. being traded. The Chiefs dominate their defense every year because they know that if they block the edge rushers, it’s over. I think Kyzir White will get better as time goes and Murray will make them more formidable in the middle. I see the Chargers going after a Corner or safety to play alongside Derwin James. As a Chiefs fan, the only person I get nervous about in their secondary is James. He has absolutely incredible instincts, quickness, leadership, and toughness. WIth another DB, the Chargers will be a force to reckon with in the AFC West for many years to come.

Defensive Line

The defensive line for the Chargers is better with the addition of Linval Joseph from the Vikings. If he can stay healthy, they’ll have a great D-line with Bosa and Ingram coming off the edge. I think the Chargers need to figure out if Jerry Tillery is the best answer to play alongside Joseph. If not, look for them to draft Blaylock from TCU tonight (I hope they don’t draft him).

Linebackers

As of now the Linebackers for the Chargers are the weakest link on their defense. Kyzir White needs to stay healthy and Denzel Perryman has not performed at his full potential. If he had, they wouldn’t have drafted Kenneth Murray to play inside and traded up to get him. Overall, they’ll be better with the addition of Murray, but they still don’t scare anyone. I guarantee the Chargers still don’t want Murray in coverage against Travis Kelce or Darren Waller.

Defensive Backs

I will hate by saying Derwin James isn’t an elite Safety in the NFL, because he’s a monster in the back end. The addition of Chris Harris helps, but no Chief is afraid of Chris Harris. Tyreek Hill uses him for his annual highlight tape of running past helpless CB’s while throwing up the peace sign. He’s a very good Corner, but I think his age is starting to catch up to him. He’s going into his 11th year and he’s not getting any faster or quicker. The Chargers don’t have a serviceable CB outside of him and I would be stunned if they didn’t draft a CB tonight.

Where Will the Chargers Finish in the AFC West?

With their initial investment in Justin Herbert, the Chargers are playing the long game instead of win now. This is evident by giving the reins to Tyrod Taylor for this year while Herbert will sit and learn. Murray is a great pick-up, but they still have too many holes to fill to compete with the Chiefs and Broncos. I believe the Chargers will fight it out with the Raiders for 3rd and 4th place. They’re not a playoff team, but I see them getting better in the next couple of years. Either way, it’s the Chief’s time right now and I can’t hide my joy! Go Chiefs!

Las Vegas Raiders: Through The Eyes of a Chiefs Fan

The Las vegas Raiders are the most notorious team in NFL history with some of the most violent and merciless football players ever to strap on a helmet. If you don’t know what I’m talking about look-up of players like Jack “The Assassin”Tatum, Howie Long, and Lyle Alzado. Even as a Chiefs fan, I used to watch Jack Tatum highlights to get inspiration on how to play safety. before I digress too much, this blog will focus on the current Las Vegas Raiders. The current state of the offense and defense with focus on positions that need help and positions that are solid.

Quarterback: Derrick Carr

Derrick Carr is one of the most perplexing QB’s in the NFL because sometimes he looks like a superstar and other times looks like his older brother. As a Chiefs fan, I worry about Derrick Carr the least of any QB in the AFC West. According to NFL.com, since he came into the league in 2014, he’s never won a game in the Holy Land (Arrowhead). People can talk all they want about Phillip “cry me a River” Rivers, but he’s broken our hearts plenty. The Raiders will be better this year if they draft right (I think they will), but Derrick Carr is not going to carry them to a Championship. In my mind, I hope he stays with the Raiders for many years to come.

Reason For Optimism…

Derrick Carr threw 21 TDs and 8 INTs with his best receiver being Tyrell Williams. He gets Nelson Aguilar this coming here to help out, but he’s never even had 800 yards receiving. Nick Foles and Carson Wentz are much better than Derrick Carr, so how much is he really going to help? Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports, have the Raiders taking a WR Ceedee Lamb from Oklahoma. This move would be exceptional because it allows Aguilar to work in the slot and keep the 6’4″ Williams on the outside. Lamb has exceptional speed and ball skills that would keep defenses honest.

State of the Offense

From my perspective, the only player’s that concerns me is Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller. Jacob’s has averaged over 6 yards/carry against the Chiefs and has the agility, strength, and toughness, to take over a game. Darren Waller is 6’6″ and 255 pounds that runs like a WR. His 90 receptions last season should be applauded, given that every team knew he was going to get the ball. I also want to applaud his ability to battle through the opiate addiction that got him sent away from Baltimore. He should be encouraged and commended on taking control of this issue.

Offensive Line

The Raiders have one of the best Centers in the NFL with Rodney Hudson anchoring the line. Gabe Jackson should be healthy enough to start for the beginning of the year and Andre James is a young Tackle that can add depth. I really think they’re going to have to take a good look at Kyle Kalis this coming year. If they determine James and Kalis are not viable options, they need to draft their book-end tackle.The interior line for the Raiders is awesome, but their tackles need to put up or shut up at this point. With 2 more 1st round picks this year, the Raider should consider a lineman before they go CB.

Wide Receivers

As I stated above, the Raiders scare literally zero teams at this position, even with the addition of Aguilar. If the final 2 games against the Chargers and Broncos are any indication, Hunter Renfrow could become a star in the slot. However, he’s been a non-factor in every other game, so who really knows. Especially, given that all 3 of teams were playing for draft stock at that point. Drafting a top WR like Ceedee Lamb makes this group night-and-day better. However, nobody knows where players will end up, despite all the “experts” mock drafts. Without significant upgrades in this years draft, the Raiders will finish dead last in the division.

State of the Defense

The Raiders defense is slightly better than their offense at this point, but they’re still not very good. The addition of Nick Kwiatkoski is going to solidify the middle of that defense for the 1st time in years. I have to admit that I’m 100% biased (Go EER’s!) in favor of Kwiatkoski, but his play is noticeable in every game. He has great instincts and discipline to make plays in the middle of the field. As a defense though, the Raiders are weak at every other position.

Defensive Backfield

Not to throw shade on a team that has been literally run out of their own city, they are not good at all in the backfield. Football is a team game like no other sport in the world, so it’s hard to place blame on one position. However, teams were 42% against the Raiders on 3rd down. At some point your DBs have to step up and not allow 33 passing TDs. I do believe Erik Harris is a legit Safety, but I don’t think he has the quickness to keep up with any of the Chiefs receivers. As much flak I give the Raiders secondary, I think Johnathan Abram will be a pro-bowler in the NFL if he can stay healthy.

Defensive Line

If I were an NFL GM, I’d draft offensive and defensive line in the 1st round until I had 3 all-pros on each side. The teams with the best “big-men” were all in the playoffs late, including the best D-line in San Francisco. Unfortunately , the Raiders don’t share my draft philosophy and always go for the shiny speedy WR or over-hyped DB. Max Crosby is a stud on the line (drafted 4th round) and Kendall Vickers can be a perennial starter, but I need proof, not potential. Teams started to negate Crosby’s impact by adding a chip with the RB or TE. No disrespect intended, but the only down lineman I’d even want on the Chiefs would be Max Crosby. Nobody else on the roster scares me enough to worry about them ruining Andy Reid’s gameplan.

Linebackers

The Raiders linebacking group is the strong suit for their defense and will undoubtedly make them better next season. They solidified the middle with the addition of WVU alum, Nick Kwiatkoski and former Washington Husky, Corey Littleton in free agency. I have no doubt that teams will have trouble running on the Raiders this season if everyone stays healthy. Look out for players like Derrick Moncrief and Te’von Coney to step up this coming season. I especially like Moncrief covering Rb’s out in the flat with his lateral quickness. I think he needs to put on a few lbs to withstand an entire NFL season, but he was a difference maker at Oklahoma State.

Where Will The Raiders Finish In The AFC West?

From my point of view, the Raiders will be neck-and neck with the Chargers for the 4-seed. I think the addition of Marcus Mariota is going to be a distraction to the offense, especially once Derrick Carr stumbles. They’ll draft a WR in the 1st round and I think they’ll be much better offensively and defensively. However, the NFL is run by high level QB’s and the Raiders are mediocre, at best. They sure as hell won’t compete the Saint Patrick and the Chiefs. The Broncos are going to be better with a QB finishing the year 4-1 in his final 5 games. The Chargers have a better roster and Tyrod Taylor doesn’t turn the ball over. I predict the Raiders will finish 7-9 and will give Mariota the reigns for the second half of the year to see if he can play in this system. I have no doubt the Raiders will let go of Carr after this season. He seems like a great guy and teammate, but he’s simply not good enough.

Denver Broncos: Through the Eyes of a Chiefs Fan

In order to write with any sense of objectivity, I must admit my bias in order to gain a full picture. The Denver Broncos have been number 1 hated team since the first time I saw The Broncos cheat in 1998. I don’t care how Mark Schlereth explains it, this was much worse than deflating a football. According to the LA Times, Schlereth answered the question about the how they cheated with, “Did I grease up my jersey, and use sticky substances on my gloves? You’re damn right,” Schlereth said recently. “What you call cheating is a fine line. It’s an interesting line. What we did, in the locker room, is called being creative. Certain cheating is snickered at, or applauded.” Even with Schlereth being a cheater, I’ve hated the Broncos because they were always the most serious competition in the AFC West (sorry, Raiders. I’ll get to you next). The Chargers always find a way to “Charger it up” in the playoffs and the Raiders are run poorly from the top.

Quarterback: Drew lock

Coming out of Missouri, Drew Lock has shown to have a strong arm and a willingness to make plays. He’s shown the Broncos enough in his game against Houston to give them a sliver of hope at a position that hasn’t been handled since Peyton Manning. Throwing for 309 yards with 3 TDs and 1 Int against Houston (in Houston) was impressive. From a Chief’s fan perspective, I saw him get better as he played more (only 5 games). With the only exception being the Chiefs defense treating him like a little brother that’s too small to play with the big boys. Lucky for him, no one expected him to beat a team hotter than Carolina Reaper that he rub in your eye, accidentally.

Reason For Optimism…

I would be excited as a Broncos fan after Lock lit up the Texans like Jeezy did for him in the Raiders game. He finished with a 98.5 QBR and a 136 Passer Rating against a team that went up 24-0 against the World Champions in the Divisional round. He showed poise in the pocket and above average accuracy against a top 3 team in the AFC. He should get a pass for going to Arrowhead in December with a team that has gelled better together than Salt and pepper on a Brisket Point. Overall, I think it’s too early to say whether or not he’s the answer, but they’ll find out if this season happens. 

State of the Offense

Again, from my perspective, there is only 1 pass-catcher on the Broncos that I’m worried and that’s, Courtland Sutton. He’s a game-changer for them that is able to stretch the field with his 6’4″ height and has shown with his 70-yard TD against the Chargers in October. A lot of mock drafts on ESPN and CBS, and NBC have the Broncos taking a defensive player because the top WRs won’t be there at 18. This leaves the Broncos with finding a diamond in the rough in later rounds to compliment Sutton on the other side.

Offensive Line

The offensive line for Denver is an even more concerning issue than their Wr group. I hate to kick a man while he’s down, but their 1st round pick in 2017 (20th overall), Garett Bolles is a bust. I believe they’ll move on from him either this year or next. According to Jeff Legwold of ESPN, John Elway has questioned if his LT even knows what holding is. To me, this is a worse sign for the coaching staff than it is for the player. If you have to question whether or not a player knows the rules, that falls on the coach, right? Either way, they need to move on from him, because Frank Clark and Joey Bosa will be in this division for at least the next 3 years. Num Num Num…

Running Backs

The RB room for the Broncos has the chance to be the best RB squad in the NFL with the Broncos addition of Melvin Gordon. I do think he’s a little overrated, but Phillip Lindsay is less physical version of Jamaal Charles. He’s quick, fast, good hands, and if he’s given a crease, he’s gone. Royce Freeman has impressed me with from the first time I saw him run the ball against the Chiefs. He’s 240 lbs and 6’0″ tall and runs like he’s got a chip on his shoulder. Any of these RBs could start for a lot of other teams in the NFL and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Broncos ran for more yards this season than the Ravens.

State of The Defense

The Broncos have had such a good defense over the years that we automatically suspect them to be good every year. With the once in a generation talent of Von Miller facing a RT and a healthy Bradley Chubb on the other, the Broncos pass rush should be effective. However, I don’t like the move to let Chris Harris walk for almost nothing. A.J. Bouye is a great pick up for the Broncos, but I don’t think he was ever better than Chris Harris. He’s also entering his 9th season and no CB gets better at this point in their careers. He’s a solid CB that will help them lock down teams like the Raiders and Chargers, but they still have no chance against KC.

Safety

On defense, I think this is the strongest position for the broncos with Justin Simmons and Trey Marshall anchoring the back end. They don’t have a lot of ints, but they’re both physical and cover a lot of ground. Justin Simmons sticks out on every game film you watch of him and Trey Marshall plays with a swagger that can’t be denied. I’d like to see P.J. Locke challenge for some playing time next season because I believe he can be a game-changer.

Linebackers

I’ve never been a fan of a 3-4 defense, unless you have bookend rushers that can force all plays to the inside. Luckily for Denver, they have one of the best to ever do it in Von Miller. His quickness, agility, and balance is spectacular to watch (even for a Chiefs fan), but I do feel like he’s starting to lose a step going into his 11th year. Bradley Chubb has shown promise, but he just missed 12 games due to injury and no one knows how he’ll come back. As far as the inside LBs go, Denver is too young and I haven’t seen anything that would worry me as a Chiefs fan.

Defensive Line

With the addition of Jurrell Casey, the Broncos have solidified their interior with one of the most dominant DL in the NFL. He will force Guards and the Center to double him every play. That means, Bradley Chubb will be 1-1 with the LT almost every play because nobody wants that smoke from Von Miller every play. I think Mike Purcell and Shelby Harris will be better utilized because the attention will undoubtedly be on Casey. Look for Denver’s D-line to be much improved and dominate teams in the comparable competition, such as the Raiders and Chargers.

Overall Opinion (Before the Draft)

As much as there is to be said about whether or not Drew Lock is the guy for them, he won 4 out of 5 games. His only loss was to the Super Bowl Champions in the Holy land (Arrowhead Stadium). Their Defense will be better against the run, but will get torched by explosive passing teams. Denver will need to find answers in the Draft at the WR position and O-line if they want to compete with the top dogs in the AFC. Overall, I think Denver will win 9 games this season, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they made a wildcard with the new rules.

Activities On Ghost Train Haze

Video Games

How many times have you gotten high before you jumped on with the boys and you realize you’ve gotten too high? Personally, I’ve lost count on the amount of times I lost a round of Warzone because I was zonked out from a 25% THC weed. The games I like to play the most are listed below for easier reading.

My Favorite Games with Ghost Train Haze
Rocket League
I’ve never played a game longer than I’ve played Rocket League(4 Years!). My highest ranking is only a Platinum III Division III for those in the know. As I play better competition, I know I can’t be too high because my reflexes are not as sharp. Ghost Train Haze keeps me light and aware of my surroundings much more than any Indica I’ve smoked.
Warzone
Ghost Train Haze allows me to focus much better than any other strain (Cherry Diesel is close). Everyone will have different effects based on your own biology, but this strain feels lighter for me, allowing me to keep my focus. As with any Battle Royale game mode, reflexes are paramount and you can’t be zonked out if you want to win.
Madden 20
I’ve been playing the Madden series for over 20 years! Although, I believe 2K Sports is much better (NBA2K vs.NBA Live), I enjoy playing Madden with a buzz. There’s nothing like rolling out the pocket with Saint Patrick (Mahomes) of Tyler, TX and hitting Tyreek (Cheetah) Hill on a go-route while high as Elephant balls.
Last of US
I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited to play a sequel in any game than I have with Last of: Part II. There’s nothing like feeling like you’re in a movie/game. The writing, graphics, and gameplay are astounding as Naughty Dog will surely deliver another epic game.
Dark Souls
Dark Souls is probably the hardest game I’ve ever played! However, there is not another game that offers more gratification after defeating a boss than Dark Souls offers. I almost have to be high to play this game to handle the anxiety of running around with thousands of points to spend before I die.

Fishing

Many of you are probably asking how I go from video games to fishing, but I am who I am,lol. I’ve been fishing since I was about 5 years old when my late grandfather first took me to Lake Michigan. Beer On Ghost Train Haze

Many people might not know, but I spent the majority of my life in Germany, which is why I’m such a beer snob. One of my all-time favorite styles of beer is called, “Helles” (hell-us). It’s a really bright colored lager that has more flavor in one drop than a Coors or Bud Light has ever created. i can sit by the smoker and drink these light beers all day and still not get obnoxiously drunk.

Augustiner Bräu Lagerbier Hell
I love this beer because it’s only 5.2% and tastes incredibly fresh. You’ll get an earthly grass note at first and as you sip, you’ll taste the malt and Munich hops. This is one of the easiest drinking beers you’ll ever taste and is only magnified with the 25% THC of the Ghost Train Haze.
Firestone Lager
At 4.5% ABV the Firestone Lager is about as light as I feel comfortable drinking before I switch to water. The Gambrinus pilsner malt is not used very often and provides a really fresh mouthfeel when this beer touches your lips. The Noble German hops give this Helles an IBU of 17, which provides just enough bitterness to taste when I swallow the beer. You could drink this beer all day and enjoy every drop, especially fi you’re outside enjoying time with your friends.
ODell’s Colorado Lager
There are more breweries in Ft. Collins than there are in some states in our country. It speaks volumes that anyone you ask will tell you that Odells is their go-to brewery in Colorado. This Lager is 5.0% ABV and the easiest drinking beer of any on the list. If you’re a Coors or Bud Light fan, but want to drink a beer with more flavor, the Colorado Lager is perfect.
ZWEI BRÜDER NEUEVIENNA LAGER
At 5.1% ABV with a 28 IBU, this beer provides the most flavor on the list. You’ll get a nutty taste from the German malt and enough hop flavor to approach a pale ale type of flavor. I love this beer because it’s easy to drink and the Ghost Train Haze exemplifies the multitude of flavor.

The SLYR Gaming Headset from Skullcandy is one of the most comfortable gaming headsets I’ve ever owned. These headphones have an awesome surround sound that perfectly compliments the noise-canceling feature. I do have to admit, I don’t think I’d be able to wear the Runmus for a 12-hour session without my ears hurting (it’s not cuz I have big ears, Craig!). The Skullcandy headphones are compatible with all major gaming systems (Xbox, PS3, PS4, PC) and sound great for music on an iPhone or tablet.

I have had a somewhat tumultuous relationship with all of my Turtle Beach headphones during my past 10 years of gaming. Turtle Beach is one of the most well-known headphone companies that cater to gaming. Built with a 15-hour battery life before needing a recharge makes them reliable for a good gaming session. The clarity of the surround sound is incredible with all Turtle Beach products, but this one is the cleanest sound to me. I love the noise-canceling in these headsets that make every sound in the game amplified. The most underlooked aspect of these headphones is the built-in comfort to provide space for glasses. There’s nothing worse than your ears hurting from the earmuffs and the headset smashing your glasses to your head. You’ll feel relief if you wear glasses from the Stealth 600 model.

This is always a subjective question because it depends on your location and financial situation. The best places to find a great headset for under $100 would be either Amazon or Walmart. I’d recommend Amazon just because I hate walking into Walmart, but if you don’t have a subscription to Amazon Prime, Walmart is your best option.

What is Warzone from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?

Warzone is the newest installment of the famous battle royale game mode for the COD franchise. Warzone is the 2nd generation battle royale for the series and feature 2 seperate game modes; Battle Royale and Plunder. Both modes are unique and are incredibly fun to play. However, there is too much to write about both games to include in one blog. I’m going to start with the training and end with an explanation of Battle Royale and I’ll write a seperate blog for Plunder.

How Do I Download Warzone?

I thought the coolest thing about this game was Activision making it a free to play game that features crossplay between consoles and PC. If you own the Modern Warfare game, you just download the update and it appears as a new game mode at the start screen. If you don’t have the game, you can download the game from Playstation on any console, including PC for FREE.

How Does Warzone Start?

Warzone starts with where every competitive internet game should start; in training. I love the new tutorial and the controller layout. COD took a play out of Battlefield’s playbook with the marking system that allows players to mark enemies for their teams. You’ll learn how to interact with your inventory and map during this training while shooting and moving around. Once you get through the tutorial, you go right into the queue.

What is Battle Royale?

Battle Royale mode is the main gameplay mode that features up to 150 players dropping into the “Warzone” in teams of only 3. The map is bigger than Blackout’s Battle Royale and there seems to be a lot more vehicles, but I don’t know for sure. The gas seems to shrink the map at the same rate as every other game mode, but seems stronger than Blackout.

How Do I Jump Into Warzone?

The jumping mechanics are completely new and are nothing like the Blackout mechanics. In Blackout, you could dive down to gain speed and use that to carry you miles over the map. Warzone allows you to dive down, but you won’t get much progress forward, unless you pull your shoot. As far as I can tell, the best way to get further distances is to pull your shoot early and float. I pull my shoot early, cut the cord to gain momentum and pull the shoot again (unlimited parachutes). I’d love to know if anyone else has come up with something else.

What is The Gulag?

One of the coolest additions to the game is the Gulag prison for anyone killed before the cutoff time (I think 20 total players left, but not 100% sure). If you die, you go to the Gulag where you meet another player in a 1vs1 gunfight for reentry into the game. This is so cool and revolutionary that it adds an unseen dimension into the battle royale game mode. The adrenaline and stress from going to the Gulag is real, not only for you, but your team. If you win, you get dropped back in with a pistol to defend yourself until you can find your team. Once you go through the Gulag, you can’t go through a 2nd time. Activision absolutely crushed this new mode!

What Are The Buy Boxes?

Throughout the map will be a Shopping Cart symbol for you to find and spend the money that you’ve accumulated. You can buy killstreaks, such as the Cluster Strike, Precision Airstrike, and UAV. The most clutch move you could make is to buy the ever important self-revive ($4,500) injector. Instead of finding a perk in the map that allows you to take less damage in the fog, Warzone allows you to buy a gas mask ($3,000). The gas mask will protect your for 12 full seconds without taking any damage. I can tell you that most wins I’ve seen have been with dudes donning their mask at the end and waiting on others to die out.

Tips To Consider…

In 2 days, I’ve not won a single match, but placed 3rd and have a few 4th place finishes. As you can tell from my gameplay footage, I’m no pro, but I can hold my own against the rest of you. From one avid gamer to another, these 5 tips will help you last longer the coming storm that is Modern Warfare: Warzone.

  • Stay ahead of the fog! the fog in Warzone is no joke and unless you have a gas ask, you’ll die if you’re in it for more than 7-10 seconds. If you can afford one, buy a gas mask ($3,000) at the buy box (shopping cart).
  • Stop taking shot from across the map that you can’t hit. All you do is give away your position to the 149 other players.
  • I’ll get my first dub tonight when my crew is online. Try to play with players with mics and who are a team first. I’ve only played alone for my top finishes and can only imagine if I had my boys helping me from the sides.
  • Buy the Loadout drop-box 1st! A lot of ppl want to go for the air strikes and self-revives, but I think getting your loadout correct is the 1st step to lasting longer.
  • As far as drops go, it’s always about to-each-his/her own. However, If I have a choice, I like to drop in at the corners of the circle and work my way in with the fog at my back. This allows me to not worry about getting attacked from 3 different ways.

Conclusion

Overall the new Battle Royale is awesome and anyone telling you different is just hating or plays Escape From Tarkov. The new additions with the revive opportunities and buy-back for downed teammates is really cool. Some may not appreciate giving everyone multiple chances to stay in the game, but I think it adds a unique dynamic to the game. The Gulag is an absolute game-changer that really amps up the pressure and adrenaline unlike anything we’ve seen in a battle royale game. Warzone is still a little laggy and has some programming issues to work out, but it’s by far the best Battle Royale game for PS4 and XBox.
